Flash Fiction Friday 10.15.2021

I’m later than I meant to be, but, guys, MY NIECE WAS BORN YESTERDAY! So, I guess enjoy some ominous flash fiction. 😂

It always came in pairs. Two knocks at the door to signify feeding. Two rings of the bell to demand his attention. Two warnings before they unleashed their wrath.

Their displeasure was inconsistent–flighty. He never know when the door would open to praise or to penalty. But today he was ready. There would be no wondering, no fear.

The click of the lock set his nerves on end, and the creak of the hinge pulled him to his feet. Today, he would show them the meaning of penalty.
